5 Essential Hair Care Habits Every Stylist Should Teach Their Clients
September 15, 2026

Salon results don't last without a home routine. Here are the five habits our master stylists teach every client leaving the academy floor.
Beautiful hair is a partnership between the salon chair and the vanity mirror. At Taplejung Beauty Academy, we train our students to send every client home with a plan, not just a haircut.
1. Wash smarter, not more often
Most Nepali hair types thrive on two to three washes per week with a sulfate-free shampoo. Over-washing strips the scalp's natural oils and triggers rebound oiliness.
2. Heat protection is non-negotiable
A thermal protectant spray before blow-drying or flat-ironing prevents the protein bonds in the hair cuticle from breaking down.
3. Trim on a schedule
A quarter-inch trim every eight to ten weeks stops split ends from traveling up the shaft.
4. Feed your hair from within
Protein, iron, and biotin-rich local foods — eggs, lentils, and seasonal greens — are the foundation of strong hair.
5. Sleep on silk
A silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction breakage, especially for chemically treated hair.
